i used to be a call center agent for one of the leading mobile phone companies in the US and almost everyday, I'd encounter these kinds over the phone. it really gets on my nerves sometimes especially when you're just trying to help them out by doing your job and then they start yelling and cursing at you as if you were the one responsible for their misfortunes. it was just so frustrating.

but i guess, that experience helped me to become a better person by being more patient, understanding and to learn how to probe by asking the right questions. because most of the time, people are rude for a reason. find that reason first then from there, then you'll be able to understand why customers are sometimes like that.smile

good thing you've learned something from that anj_01. thanks for sharing that nugget of wisdom.smile

i'm not a salesman but i sure have seen lots of rude customers. one time i was at a computer shop and i saw a customer seemingly interrogating a sales guy, firing off questions then when the salesman stuttered a bit, the customer threw some flyers at the poor guy and demanded to see their manager.

the saying "the customer is always right" was taken too seriously by that rude character.

that must be quite irritating dsedaris. i'm personally against "talking down" to sales executive, or salesman if you like. it doesn't matter if they were able to help you or not, as long as you see them clearly making the effort to assist you, no one has the right to be rude and to talk down to people, especially to salesman.

i think successfully handling a rude customer and turning them into a buyer is a mark of a great salesman. it'll be quite a challenge but you'll reap the rewards after.

although the policy "the customer is always right" seems out of place most of the time. there should have been a "not" right before "always." biggrin
