i concur, i also think that a really effective salesman has to ba genuinely interested in what his clients has to say. and it wouldn't hurt if one is effortlessly charming either.
i chanced upon the director of one of the top sales training companies here in singapore and based on our small talk, i'd think an effective salesman is someone who's warm, whose friendly and seems genuinely interested in what you have to say. he was all that and more and i guess, that's one of the qualities that made him a successful salesman and director, in his field.
wow question, what a nice summary of qualities you've got there! i agree, especially with the no. 6. "believe in yourself and in your product." blindly committing to something might be hard to sustain and if you only half-heartedly believe in your product but you do you give your all when it comes to the actual selling, the half-hearted part will show.
1. Improve your sales technique. 2. Spend more time talking to clients. 3. Find better clients. 4. Service your customers better. 5. Know your products and your competitors products better than anyone else. 6. Believe in yourself and your product. 7. Be more prepared than your competitors. 8. Be the most enthusiastic salesman in the world! 9. Go that extra mile every time.
listening skills. you might be the greatest speaker in the world but if you don't listen to what your customer's aresaying and NOT saying, you would never close the deal.
Clahlel's post about cold calling got me thinking about the person doing the calling. Knowing the effective steps in cold calling doesn't necessarily make it successful nor does a good communicator translates to an effective salesman. you have to be more than just a persuasive speaker, you need to have something extra in your sleeve too.
So what do you think are those extra qualities that a great salesman should possess?
