it must be out of desperation. most salesman have sales target they have to meet and when a company has a high turnover, i think these people would be aggressive enough to employ those techniques. and a lot of times, they do it because of the commission.
i had a friend who was promised that she's going to get a new phone because she's been a subscriber for years. the agent said she doesn't have to pay anything because they have a promotion, they're giving away free phones to those long-time subscribers. and then when her phone bill came, she was shocked to see that she had another line and was immediately charged for subscribing to it! she got the phone but then again, she didn't really asked in the first place for it so she returned it to the store.
i signed up for this discount card thinking that i'll get incredible, huge discounts, 50-80% discounts, for grocery items mostly, turns out i had to purchase loads of groceries in exchange for a measly price deduction.
i think the year-end price deductions that i got didn't even cover the membership fee for the discount card, sheeesh..
i've personally heard of stories where a salesman would corner and badger a customer into buying their product that the customer would have no choice but to purchase it so that he/she can get away.
but the one thing that i hate the most is they'd promise to give you something big and expensive for a prize in return for buying their products then it turns out its that the price is just an umbrella, ugh, i hate that.
have you guys experienced this kinds of deceitful sales techniques?
